Japanese Automaker Mazda and Italian Fiat announced, on Wednesday, that they would jointly produce a two-seater sports car as part of a technology and product development alliance.
The car will use Mazda’s next generation rear-wheel-drive technology and will be sold at Mazda and Alfa Romeo showrooms. Fiat will also sell a portion of the cars but with differences in the engine.
Both the cars will be made in the southern Japanese city of Hiroshibegin scheduled to begin 2015.
“Establishing technology and product development alliances is one of Mazdas corporates neckties and this announcement with Fiat is an important first step in that direction” Takashi Yamanouchi, Mazdas president said.
