The Lebanese national team has been drawn into Group A in the fourth round of the World Cup qualifiers alongside Iran, South Korea, Uzbekistan and Qatar.

Lebanon has managed to avoid meeting with heavyweights Japan and Australia, who were drawn with Jordan, Iraq and Omar in Group B. The draw took place in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia earlier today.

The teams which finish in the top two positions from each group are automatic entrants into the 2014 World Cup. The teams which finish in third place in each group face each other, with the winner advancing to play a play-off against the fifth-place team in the CONMEBOL (South American) qualifiers.

Lebanon will meet Qatar at home in their first qualifier of the phase on June 3.

On Monday, the Tribune publishes Rouba Jaafar‘s interview with Lebanese star Abbas Atwi and Zahi Sahli‘s analysis of the latest in Lebanese football.
